Mochas are the best-selling coffee drink for Caribou Coffee, according to TickerMine's most recent poll. Twenty-six percent of coffee houses polled said mochas were their number one selling drink. Lattes were next, at 23%, and were followed by Coffee of the Day (19%) and cappuccino (10%). Twenty-nine percent of coffee houses polled said they sell drip coffee, as opposed to specialty coffee drinks, ten to 15% of the time. Twenty-six percent said they sell plain drip coffee 15% to 20% of the time; 23% said drip coffee makes up more than 20% of their orders. Fifty-eight percent of Caribou employees polled said they usually order specialty drinks; ten percent said they were not coffee drinkers. At least half their customers come in for coffee more than four days per week, said 49% of responding coffee houses. Nineteen percent of those polled said between one quarter and one half of their customers come in more than four times per week. Thirty-five percent said such frequent customers make up 35% of their customer base.
According to TickerMine's recent poll, lattes are the best selling coffee drink for Caribou Coffee. Thirty-five percent of locations polled named the milky drink their top order. Coffee of the day (16%), mochas (13%) and cappuccino (10%) are also popular. Thirty-two percent of Caribou Coffees say they sell regular drip coffee, rather than specialty drinks, 10 to 15% of the time. Twenty-six percent said they sell drip coffee 15 to 20% percent of the time. Another 26% said they sell drip coffee five to ten percent of the time; 16% said drip coffee makes up more than 20% of their orders. Fifty-five percent of employees participating in the poll drink mostly specialty drinks; 26% order drip coffee. A full 19% of employees interviewed do not drink coffee at all. Caribou Coffee has a large number of regular customers: 23% of locations polled said 65 to 80% of their customers come in more than four times per week. Another 35% of locations said 26 to 50% of their customers come in more than four times a week. Only 35% of Caribou Coffees have raised their prices in the last two months.
Tickermine contacted 27 east coast based Caribou Coffee stores to ask what is their best-selling coffee drink and what percentages of patrons order regular drip coffee. The responses were similar to last month’s survey. Six stores (22%) reported that their “coffee-of-the-day” was the best seller and five (19%) reported lattes were their best seller. Seven stores (27%) said that various mocha drinks were the best sellers. Overall, espresso-based drinks were again the most popular. Seventeen (63%) stores reported that patrons order plain, regular drip coffee 5-15% of the time. Six (22%) stores stated that regular drip coffee was ordered more than 20% of the time. Of the 27 store employees surveyed, 17 (64%) ordered specialty coffee drinks for themselves and only one (4%) stated that they were not a coffee drinker.
