SunTrust Banks is a financial services holding company. Through its SunTrust Bank subsidiary, which operates primarily within Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, Co. provides deposit, credit, and trust and investment services. Additional subsidiaries provide mortgage banking, credit-related insurance, asset management, securities' brokerage and capital market services. Co. also provides clients with technology based banking channels, including the Internet, automated teller machines, and telebanking. As of Dec 31 2006, Co. had total assets of $182.16 billion and total deposits of $124.02 billion.
