Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak's party faces criminal investigations
JER2000013002 - 30 JANUARY 2000 - JERUSALEM, ISRAEL: Israeli Prime Minister and cabinet secretary Isaac Herzog attend the first cabinet meeting, January 30, 2000, since Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein ordered, last week, a criminal investigation into Barak's campaign funding in the last general election. One Israel, Barak's party, was also fined 13.8 million shekels by State Controller Eliezer Goldberg over Party Fund Law violations. Goldberg listed the name of cabinet secretary Herzog as the party responsible for funneling foreign and domestic donations to Barak's campaign. rw/Debbie Hill UPI
