Whale deaths
VAN2000031908 - 19 MARCH 2000 - VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA: Finishing his necropsy, March 19, John Ford, Head of Marine Mamal Research at the Vancouver Aquarium calls the Coast Gaurd to send in a hover craft on high tide to tow the Orca (Killer Whale) carcass out to the mud flats for burial. The necropsy samples of the recently dead whale which washed up over the weekend on Boundary Bay's Centennial Beach just south of Vancouver will be sent to a health lab for analysis. It is believed heavy pollution and low fish stocks in the Georgia strait, may be significant factors in the whales death. jr/hr/H Ruckemann UPI
