NEW YORK, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Kid Cudi told Twitter followers he would be releasing his latest album, Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon, just hours before it debuted on iTunes. He's become the latest celebrity to forgo traditional promotional campaigns for low-key marketing propelled by social-media interest.

The 30-year-old rapper dropped 10 news songs, many with cosmic themed titles like "Copernicus Landing" and "Return of the Moon Man."

Fans knew that Cudi working on a new album -- he released album artwork and a track listing earlier this month.

But his tactics certainly mirror the industry-shattering debut of Beyonce's self-titled album last December. She released new music and music videos on iTunes, without any notice at all, then posted an Instagram photo of the cover art.
