NEW YORK, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Brian Williams, currently reporting on the Winter Olympics from Sochi, has apologized to veteran talk-show host Arsenio Hall for leaving him out of a Brady Bunch-style montage of late-nighters.

Hall took offense to the snub and asked viewers to call NBC's switchboard to complain. He also brought out Suge Knight to speak on his behalf.

"[NBC News] compiled a photo of nine particularly fair skinned people," read a post to Hall's website. "There was one face missing: Arsenio. Arsenio doesn't want to play the role of 'angry black man' here, so he brought someone who can."

The criticism reached Williams, who apologized during his news broadcast, adding that the network had also forgotten TBS host Pete Homes.

"Chalk it up to being on the air at 4 AM in the morning in Russia," Williams said, then provided a few other on-air mistakes NBC News has made.

"Thanks, Brian, I appreciate it," Hall said on his show, and noted Williams' sense of humor. Watch him accept Williams' apology below, after an explanation of the week's events:
