LOS ANGELES, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Angelina Jolie spent the last several months directing Unbroken in Australia, and now we've got an extended look at some of the footage, which aired Sunday during the Olympics.

The first-look trailer features an interview with Louis Zamperini, the Olympic track star-turned-POW, whose real-life story formed the basis for the 2010 non-fiction best-seller, Unbroken.

The preview features narration from NBC News veteran Tom Brokaw and explains how Zamperini, played by Jack O'Connell, survived a plane crash during World War II and spent 47 days floating on a raft in the Pacific. He was captured and spent two years as a Japanese prisoner of war.

Domhnall Gleeson, Finn Wittrock, Garrett Hedlund, John Magaro and Alex Russell also star in the film, which opens Christmas Day.
