WASHINGTON, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- NBA All Star weekend begins on Friday night in New Orleans and even people who aren’t interested in who wins the three-point shootout or skills competition may want to tune in over the weekend to see something that has the potential to be a slam dunk -- Charles Barkley interviewing President Obama.

In a brief clip released ahead of the weekend, POTUS confirms the somewhat strange pairing. "It's going to be a great weekend," Obama says in clip. "And I'll be watching! On TNT!"

Following the interview on Thursday, Obama took Barkley for a tour of the snowed-in White House.

Obama is a noted basketball fan, and usually sits for a pregame interview before the Super Bowl.

As it turns out, Sir Charles is a fan of Obama as well. In 2012, Barkley ripped into Obama’s then-presidential opponent Mitt Romney during a broadcast. “Mitt Romney, listen man,” Barkley said. “We’re gonna beat you like a drum in November. Don’t take it personally. I like you, you seem like a nice guy. But you’re going down, bro.”
