WASHINGTON, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- The president and the first lady put their love on full display for Valentine's Day, even though they would be spending Friday night on opposite coasts.
First lady Michelle Obama tweeted her Valentine's greetings at her husband shortly before noon Friday, and President Obama responded a few minutes later.
"Hey Barack, I'll always be your valentine! #HappyValentinesDay," the first lady tweeted, signing her message with "-mo" to indicate she'd sent it herself.
"Here's the truth: @MichelleObama is still the best Valentine," he wrote back.
Later, the president shared more Valentine's wishes on Facebook, along with a photo of the first couple at the 2009 Governor's Ball dancing to Earth, Wind and Fire.
The president departed for California Friday afternoon, where he will spend the day in Fresno touring a farm and speaking to community leaders about the ongoing drought. He will dine Friday night at Rancho Mirage, where he will have a working dinner with King Abdullah II of Jordan.
The president and first lady had dinner out in Washington last week, enjoying a meal at José Andrés' Oyamel on Saturday evening that members of the press pool speculated was their Valentine's celebration.
