RANCHO PALOS VERDES , Calif., Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Jennifer Aniston spent the eve of her 45th birthday playing journalist.

While attending the Makers Conference at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. on Monday, Feb. 10 the actress hosted a Q & A with women's rights activist Gloria Steinem.

During their chat, Steinem noted how the media can portray some women based on their marital status and whether or not they have children. Aniston, who is no stranger to these judgments, joked that she'd never been the subject of such stories.

The We're The Millers actress looked elegant in a black ensemble at the event. She accessorized with an eye catching necklace with a letter "T" -- probably for fiancé Justin Theroux -- on it.

The female empowerment conference ran through Wednesday Feb. 12 and featured powerful women including Martha Stewart, Geena Davis, Marlo Thomas, and Aniston's personal friend Chelsea Handler.

Aniston will next star in Cake playing the "acerbic, hilarious Claire Simmons," a woman who is obsessed with the suicide of a peer in her chronic pain support group.
