SOCHI , Russia, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- American professional snowboarder and skateboarder Shaun White has moved one step closer to winning his third straight Olympic gold medal in the men’s halfpipe.

The 27-year-old San Diego native breezed through his first two days of the competition earning the highest score of the qualification round -- a 95.75 -- and automatically qualifying for the event’s final round, which is set to take place on Tuesday.

While snowboarders have famously criticized the conditions of the pipe -- competitors agreed that it was far from being perfect Tuesday -- the state seem to have no effect on White's run.

The Olympian's teammate, Danny Davis, also passed the qualification rounds with a score of 92.0.

White previously won the god medal for halfpipe in the Turin games in 2006 and in the Vancouver games in 2010.
