WASHINGTON, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- The Republican Governors Association raised a record amount of money in campaign cash for the month of January, despite the scandal surrounding Chris Christie.

The RGA said in an news release that they raised $6 million in the month of January. That is not only a record for the month but is twice the amount they made in Jan. 2013.

Christie is the chair of the RGA and has taken political heat for the scandal surrounding the closing of lanes on the George Washington Bridge as a suspected part of political payback on a local mayor.
