It's unusual for athletes in any sport to be drug tested on the same day of competition.

SOCHI, Russia, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Canadian figure skater Kaetlyn Osmond was awoken from a nap Saturday to undergo a doping test just hours before she was scheduled to skate in the Olympics team figure skating event.

The 18-year-old skater had practiced earlier that morning and was taking a nap with a "do not disturb" sign on her door when the drug testers -- conducted by the Russian Olympic organizing committee -- stopped by, the (Halifax) Chronicle Herald reported.

Skate Canada high performance director Mike Slipchuk said he'd never heard of an athlete being tested on the day of competition for any event.

So far, seven of the 17 Canadian figure skaters had already been tested, including pairs skaters Meagan Duhamel and Dylan Moscovitch, who were tested the same night their flight arrived in Sochi, Russia.
