LOS ANGELES, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Missy Elliott is not coming back just yet.

During an interview with Yahoo’s The Yo Show, the 42-year-old rapper addressed her nine-year-long hiatus and discussed her imminent yet distant return.

“When I create something, it’s gotta be special, and it can’t just be to throw something out there because I feel like I’m Missy,” she told host Michael Yo via video chat.

“I gotta feel like what I’m giving the fans is 100 percent and that it’s game-changing. I don’t just throw out microwave records.”

Elliot dismissed the idea that she might be going through a writer's block and attributed her absence from the spotlight to the necessity to take time to create new life stories to write about.

"When you are creating to the magnitude that I try to create, your brain is like a computer sometimes and it needs to refresh," she said regarding how fast artists put out new albums nowadays. "Things happen in your life when you can then write something else instead of the same three topics. Like, how many times are we talk about the club?"

Elliot hasn't put out a new album since 2005's The Cookbook, and while she's divulged that her next studio record will be titled Block Party, the singer isn't revealing -- or even hinting at -- its release date.

“I just ain’t telling nobody when,” she said when asked about her comeback record.

During her absence, the "Lose Control" crooner has put out five singles, “Best, Best,” “Ching-a-Ling,” "Shake Your Pom Pom," “9th Inning” and “Triple Threat.” For the last two, Elliot collaborated with acclaimed producer Timbaland.
