LOS ANGELES, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Missy Elliot has maintained an active Twitter presence and continued to produce music since her last album debuted in 2005. But fans have wondered when to expect a follow up to The Cookbook, which went gold and received a Grammy nod.

Looking for answers, Yahoo! Celebrity caught up with the 42-year-old "Work It" rapper, who said she doesn't feel rushed.

"When I create something, it's gotta be special," she said, who added that today's music industry seems to constantly call for continued output. "I can't just throw something out there because I feel like I'm Missy."

Elliot said she needed time to "refresh" and "just be inspired by things."

"Things happen in your life where you can then write something else instead of the same three topics," she added. "How many times we gonna talk about the club?"

She promised fans that an album "is coming," though she's already working on a project with Faith Evans.
