LAS VEGAS, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- After defeating the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII by an impressive margin, the Seattle Seahawks have already been installed as the favorites to win Super Bowl XLIX.
Oddsmakers are apparently fairly confident that Russell Wilson, Pete Carroll and the Seahawks defense will be able to take care of business in the 2014 season despite playing in the most competitive division in football, the NFC West.
Bovada.lv has the Seahawks listed at 9/2 odds followed by the San Francisco 49ers at 15/2 and the Broncos at 8/1.
The last team to win back-to-back championships was the New England Patriots, who accomplished the feat in 2004 and ’05. The Patriots are 14/1 favorites to win it all next season.
Six of the last 12 Super Bowl winners failed to make the postseason the following season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have the longest odds of winning the big game at 100/1 followed by the Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders, all at 75/1.
