GLENDALE, Calif., Feb. 3 (UPI) -- The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that Walt Disney Co. is planning to fire hundreds of workers at Disney Interactive, the division responsible for creating and distributing video games and other forms of interactive entertainment.

The division found success with its video game, Disney Infinity, which has sold more than $300 million units since it launched last year. But most of the layoffs will reportedly come from Playdom, which the company bought for $563 million.

Former co-president John Pleasants left Disney Interactive last November, after the segment lost more than $200 million a year between 2008 and 2012, so the restructuring efforts won't surprise insiders.

Disney representatives have not commented on the report.
