DETROIT, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- A made-for-television movie focusing on Gabby Douglas' years leading up to her gold-medal appearance at the London Olympics in 2012 debuts at 8 p.m. E.S.T. Saturday on Lifetime.
"The Gabby Douglas Story" shows the difficulty of Douglas life living in Iowa away from her family in Virginia while she trained, some minor conflicts with fellow gymnasts and the hardship her mother underwent to meet the financial demands of a gymnastics career, the Detroit News reported.
The film includes brief clips of the real gymnast and her family, focusing on the training she underwent before winning gold on the international stage.
The film stars Sydney Mikayla as a young Douglas and Imani Hakim plays an older Douglas.
