DUBLIN, Ireland, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- It looks like Garth Brooks made the right decision to come out of retirement.

Nearly two months after announcing his 2014 world tour, thousands of Irish fans lined up through Wednesday night and into Thursday morning to buy tickets for the country singer's first three gigs in Ireland.

In just 90 minutes, the 51-year-old Oklahoma native sold 240,000 tickets to July shows at Dublin's Croke Park. Brooks last performed there in 1997, three years before he announced his retirement.

One 40-year-old fan told the Irish Times that she spent four days lined up for tickets.

“We are true followers of Garth Brooks," said Roisin Slater. "We can’t be sure that the [Ticketmaster] system won’t crash or not if it is overloaded. It’s going really strange going home on Thursday evening, put your feet up and not worry where everybody is going to be sleeping tonight or where the food is coming from.”

Brooks will continue his tour in the fall of 2014.
