WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., grilled Director of National Intelligence James Clapper on the warrantless searches of Americans' data in an open Senate intelligence hearing Wednesday.
He insisted that Clapper answer the question of whether or not the NSA has conducted warrantless searches of the data and communications of American citizens. Clapper responded saying that he would not discuss in an open hearing but said he would release an unclassified answer to Wyden's question within 30 days after further pressure from Wyden to no longer delay the information.
