LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Macklemore has become something of an American hero for his increasing support of the LGBT community through his music, but days after the rapper officiated a mass wedding while performing at the Grammys, an old post from his verified Twitter account has shed light on his conspiracy-theorist ways.

A 2009 tweet from @macklemore appears to blame former President George W. Bush for the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001.

The uncovering of the tweet has prompted many fans and detractors to slam the rapper via social media. While some Facebook commenters say his remarks "disrespect the memory of those lost on 9/11," others claim he is simply "delusional."

Other old tweets from the "Thrift Shop" rapper have raised questions about his true stance on the LGBT community as they appear to be homophobic jokes.

According to Fox News, a rep for Mackemore had no comment about the tweets.
