ATLANTA, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- A father in Atlanta walked 6 miles to his daughter's closed school to make sure she was safe during a severe winter storm.

Due to a severe winter storm that is hitting Atlanta, roads and schools have been closed and some children are stuck at school with no way to get home.

The father, identified only as Mark, walked to E. Rivers elementary school where his 5-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, was stuck with about 150 students and staff. Elizabeth said her "daddy took a long time," but once he got there he joined the students and staff on gym mats to spend the night.
