Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Performers from a variety of genres flood Los Angeles to attend Sunday night's Grammys, so it's common for them to play slideshows together. On Saturday, a bevy of roots musicians gathered at West Hollywood venue The Troubadour to honor one of their own.

Americana Music Association's annual pre-Grammys show Saturday night featured an all-star Americana tribute to Phil Everly, of the Everly Brothers, who died Jan. 3 at age 74.

Bonnie Raitt, Rodney Crowell, Ry Cooder, T Bone Burnett, Joe Henry, the Milk Carton Kids and Sarah Jarosz were on hand to cover the Everly Brothers catalogue, including classic folk songs from their 1958 album, Songs Our Daddy Taught Us.

Though Everly's widow, Patty, attended the show, his brother and musical collaborator Don Everly sent a letter via Crowell.

"I’m sorry I can’t be there in person, and really appreciate the recognition," Everly wrote. "Right now, I’m mourning the loss of my little brother and suffering from a broken heart. His death has saddened me profoundly. I love him very much. He will always be missed. Phil was a great singer It’s nice to see how his (and our) legacy is being honored. Thank you for the tribute. Phil would have been very proud."
