Colin Jost to replace Seth Meyers as SNL's 'Weekend Update' co-anchor

Jost will take on his new role beginning March 1.

Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels has already picked a successor to Seth Meyers.

SNL head writer Colin Jost will be joining Cecely Strong in hosting the show's Weekend Update segment. Jost joined the live television sketch comedy show in 2005 -- when he was 22 -- and became the series head writer in 2012. He is the third consecutive head writer to take on the Weekend Update co-anchor role following Tina Fey and Meyers.

Jost's promotion comes on the heels of Meyer's departure from the show that made him famous to become the new host of Late Night.

Jost, who's earned a Peabody Award and eight Emmy nominations for his work on SNL, will take on his new role on March 1.
