Teen Mom 2 star Leah Messer has confirmed reports that her 4-year-old daughter Aliannah is battling muscular dystrophy.

"The disorder affects her respiratory system and progresses the older she gets,” Leah who is married to Jeremy Calvert, told In Touch. “The bigger she gets and the more weight she gains, the harder it’ll be for her muscles to carry the weight.”

Messer's story dealing with Aliannah's condition will unfold in the upcoming season of MTV's Teen Mom 2. Regarding what viewers will get from the show, she said that while they were scared at times, they always "pushed for answers."

“We never gave up, and we never will," she told In Touch. "We’ll do everything we can to make sure Ali has the life that she needs.”

The trailer for new season of the show reveals Calvert threatening divorce during an intense argument, but according to the reality star the couple would "never" get divorced.

“This is his first marriage -- he’s still learning you can’t throw that word around,” she explains. “We both know we’d never get a divorce. Both of us are too happy.”

As for her relationship with her ex husband -- Aliannah and twin sister Aleeah's biological father -- Corey Simms, 24, Messer said her daughter's condition "has brought us all extremely close together."

"We have to stay strong for Ali, and things are going good,” she said.

The third season of Teen Mom 2, premiered Jan. 21 on MTV.
