Jan. 21 (UPI) -- A shooting Tuesday afternoon at Purdue University left one person dead and another in custody.

Police at the West Lafayette, Ind., campus said a call came in around noon that a man walked into the basement of the university's electrical engineering building and shot another man, killing him.

The suspected shooter was apprehended without incident outside the building several minutes later, said Purdue Police Chief John Cox.

The Tippacanoe County coroner is working to identify the victim, and police have yet to reveal the identity of the suspect, Cox said. No information regarding the relationship between the suspect and the victim has been released.
