Roswell school shooting injures at least 2

Hospital officials said at least two students were taken in for treatment.

Jan. 14 (UPI) -- At least two students were injured during a shooting at a middle school in Roswell, New Mexico Tuesday morning.

Authorities were notified of gunshots at Berrendo Middle School shortly after 8 a.m., and were ableo to apprehend the shooter, according to the Roswell Police Department's Facebook page.

Two students were transported to hospital for treatment, but no details were released on their condition, said a spokesperson for the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center.

The school was placed on lockdown and parents were advised to pick up their children at the Roswell Mall.

State police said they would release information at a news conference at 1 p.m. local time.
