The network announced the premiere date Monday, though news of the hit show's limited return was first reported last May.
The reboot, titled 24: Live Another Day, will see Sutherland back in character as counter-terrorism agent Jack Bauer. But the new series will forgo the original's signature conceit -- with each episode taking place in real time -- in favor of a more traditional format.
Sutherland, 47, told reporters on Monday that he felt "very nervous" about returning to the role.
"I feel we made eight very strong years," he said. "There was something every year we wished was better but I was very proud of what we did. So to open that up again -- and not make them the best 12 we’ve ever made, it’s frightening. I won’t lie, I’m very nervous. Until we start shooting, it’s intangible so I’m as anxious and wound up as I’ve been in a long time."
Actress Mary Lynn Rajskub will also return as Chloe.
