Samsung introduced two new tablets aimed at enterprise customers, with screens measuring 12.2 inches, at the International Consumer Electronics Show 2014 in Las Vegas.

The Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO are much larger than Apple's 9.7 inch iPad , Microsoft's 10.6-inch Surface 2 and Amazon's Kindle Fire. Despite their large size the Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO weigh 1.7 pounds and 1.6 pound respectively.

Samsung said the tablets are intended for professional users, who prefer larger screens to perform complex tasks. The tablet also features software designed for professionals, like the e-Meeting app, a tool that lets users share content during meetings. The company has also refreshed the interface and gone for a magazine-style layout for the apps, as compared to earlier grid designs.

The tablets seem to be an answer to Microsoft's Surface 2 which was aimed as a replacement for professionals who did not want to use a laptop anymore. It also comes a day after rumors swirled that Apple was developing a 12-inch "iPad Pro."

According to IDC, Apple leads the tablet market with 29.6 percent market share in the third quarter of last year followed by Samsung with a 20.4 percent market share.
