Old Spice mom ad goes viral, shows mothers creeping on their sons

Old Spice's "Smellcome to Manhood" campaign has drawn positive and negative reactions for its creepy-but-funny commercials.

Jan. 7 (UPI) -- The company behind the "Man Your Man Should Smell Like" ads, starring the confidently hunky Isaiah Mustafa, has opted for a decidedly less sexy approach to its viral campaigning.

Old Spice debuted its latest set of commercials during Sunday's NFL Wild Card Weekend broadcast, and they've since garnered millions of hits online. They're part of a series called "Smellcome to Manhood," in which frumpy, ghoulish mothers bemoan their sons' newfound manliness.

Some of the moms have horrifically Chucky-like facial expressions. They hide out under couch cushions, pose as janitors and hang onto the bumpers of moving cars to spy on their teenage sons pursuing relationships with girls.

Social media users have overwhelmingly described the commercials as "creepy." Their comedic value is up for debate, but they've definitely gone viral.
