Robin Roberts shares first photo of girlfriend Amber Laign

Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Robin Roberts discussed her longtime girlfriend Amber Laign on air for the first time since coming out in a year-end Facebook post last month.

“I have never been happier or healthier than I am right now,” Roberts told George Stephanopoulos, when the Good Morning America co-host said he hoped that the public revelation had been a "good experience."

"My year-end post was just full of gratitude in just telling everyone all that I'm grateful for, including my girlfriend, Amber, who really loved me through a very difficult year, and I'm very happy for the support," Roberts said. "It's just letting everybody know that, reflect on what got you to where you are right now, be grateful."

Roberts also shared a photo of a family gathering in Baton Rouge, pointing out the woman to her left as Amber, her girlfriend of 10 years.

Roberts first mentioned Laign in a Dec. 29 Facebook post, in which she thanked her doctors, family and friends for their support though breast cancer and myelodysplastic syndrome.

"I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together," she wrote.
