Bao Bao, a panda cub, is preparing for her big public appearance on January 18 by meeting the media Monday at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C.

Curators said that Bao Bao was calm and relaxed during the outing, and that she was more subdued than older brother Tai Shan.

Bao Bao was seen playing in her indoor enclosure, climbing rocks and following her mother. Zoo members will get an early sneak peek at the panda cub this Saturday.

To get Bao Bao used to the cold weather and snow hitting D.C. her keepers brought her a large bowl of snow last week, and she was seen curiously sticking her nose in the white stuff.
