Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel won't be interviewed by the Cleveland Browns as a possible replacement for former head coach Rob Chudzinkski, despite a report that said otherwise.
The possibility the Browns might be considering Tressel was first reported on Akron, Ohio, radio station Fox Sports 1350 on the "Big Time Sports" show hosted by Joe Dunn and Tom Linder.
But the rumors are just that, league sources told the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.
While the Browns are considering college coaches, Tressel isn't one of them.
Tressel resigned as head coach at Ohio State in May 2011 over his alleged knowledge of players selling university items and memorabilia.
The Browns, meanwhile, fired Chudzinski Dec. 29 after just one season with a disappointing 4-12 record.
