The Modern Family star took to Twitter Monday to express her views on news that the "Call Me Maybe" singer would take on the role of Cinderella during a 12-week run in the revival of the classic fairy tale.
Today's a meltdown day. Carly Rae jepsen is going to be cinderella??? On broadway???? NOT OK WITH THIS. Tell me it's gonna be ok @LauraOsnes— Sarah Hyland (@Sarah_Hyland) December 30, 2013
Osnes, the Tony nominated actress who originated the part in the well received revival, must have received many complaints about the Canadian pop star filling in for her, because the day before Hyland's post she also took to the social media site to calm down fans with a message she learned from Cinderella herself.
Have we learned nothing from Ella about charity, generosity, and kindness? @CinderellaBway— Laura Osnes (@LauraOsnes) December 30, 2013
As for Hyland, she later explained that her discontent had nothing to do with Jepsen herself.
Too avoid anyone assuming things? My previous tweets do not mean that I'm not a Carly Rae Jepsen fan. The end.— Sarah Hyland (@Sarah_Hyland) December 30, 2013
Rogers + Hammerstein's Cinderella premiered on Broadway in March 2013 it's expected to launch a national tour next year.
