Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Avril Lavigne, who wore black for her wedding to Chad Kroeger last summer, favors black eyeliner and a "sk8er girl" aesthetic, but was happy to let Allure give her a make-under for the magazine's January 2014 issue.

"I like the idea of trying new things, of playing around -- as long as you can go back to what you're comfortable in," she told the mag.

Magazines must love the idea of giving her make-unders, because Harper’s Bazaar did it back in 2006.

"A couple of years ago I started wearing skirts," she said at the time. "I'm starting to feel more feminine. I'm getting into hair and makeup and image. That's the best part of being a girl."

Lavigne, 29, released her self-titled fifth studio album last month.
