When Pippa Middleton and her boyfriend jetted off to India back at the beginning of the month, did she return with a fiancé?

The rumor mill began revving up -- again -- that Middleton's banker boyfriend Nico Jackson had gotten down on one knee while on a trip to Agra, where they stayed with views of the famed Taj Mahal.

"It was exactly how he planned it," a source said. "Very romantic and grand!"

But have the rumors of their engagement been greatly exaggerated?

Shortly after news of their reported engagement broke, others close to the couple began to push back on claims that Jackson had popped the question.

Since their return on December 10, there's been no sign of a ring or an official announcement, but the rumors have been persistent.

Still, others maintain the couple is planning on holding off on sharing their good news.

"They want to announce an engagement after Christmas and the wedding will follow soon after," a source said.

Middleton and Jackson were first pictured together in February, but dated in secret for a while before.
