Dec. 15 (UPI) -- The surprise drop of Beyonce's new album last week garnered more Twitter posts than the record-setting Syfy film "Sharknado."
Fans of the singer posted more than 1.2 million tweets in 12 hours about the album, "Beyonce," with a tweets per minute rate of 5,300 at its height, the New York Daily News reported. That's more than 300 times the cult film "Sharknado" had during its peak.
And it wasn't just fans who had a lot to say about Mrs. Carter on Twitter. Her colleagues took to Twitter to express their surprise over the album, which was not advertised ahead of its release.
"X-Factor" judge and singer Demi Lovato tweeted several times about the album, which she said she was listening to on repeat.
