"I love what I do so much, but I love my life more," she told Ocean Drive magazine. "And I realized throughout the years of being in this business that the only way to maintain some kind of sanity is to protect that which is most dear to you, which is your life and everyone that’s in it.”
Saldana and Perego were linked in May, and were reportedly married in England just a month later, but the actress has steadfastly refused to confirm or deny the marriage -- until now.
In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live Wednesday, Kimmel didn't ask if the rumors were true. Instead, he simply congratulated Saldana on getting married.
"I did. Thank you, thank you!" she said, congratulating Kimmel on his own July marriage to Molly McNearney. "And congratulations to you too!"
The two engaged in a little friendly competition about their wedding venues.
"I got married in Ojai, which is about an hour away from here," Kimmel said. "It's in the desert. And you?"
"I did it in England," Saldana replied. "Can you top that?
