Iran announces it will name street in Tehran after Mandela

The Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory currently lists the number of streets worldwide named after the South African statesman at 125.

Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Tehran announced today its intention to name a city street after former South African President Nelson Mandela, who died yesterday at the age of 95.

According to Iran's Islamic Republic News Agency, the Tehran City Council will determine which street in Iran's capital will be named in honor of Mandela.

The newest Nelson Mandela street will be added to the worldwide street list maintained by the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory, which currently numbers 125.
