25 boatpeople camped out on Christmas Island, surviving on crab and coconuts

Dec. 5 (UPI)-- Australian authorities have located 17 additional asylum seekers after discovering eight boatpeople on one of Christmas Island's main roads earlier today.

The Navy and Border Protection Command had launched a search of the ocean, coastline, and jungle to locate the unaccounted-for asylum seekers.

The 25 Rohingya people arrived from Myanmar on Christmas Island's Dolly Beach three days ago, and had subsisted on crabs and coconuts to survive. All asylum seekers were transported to an immigration detention center.
