Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Ariana Grande owned the 2013 American Music Awards on Sunday.
Not only did the former Nickelodeon star get a standing ovation from no other than Lady Gaga after performing a soulful version of her hit "Tattooed Heart," but she also took home the coveted Best New Artist of 2013 title.
"Oh My God, I'm so nervous. Thank you so much. This is for my fans. I have the most loving, supporting fans in the world and I love them so much. Thank you to the AMAs for nominating me," Grande, 20, said at the Nokia Theatre in L.A. after receiving the honor.
Monte Lipman, the founder and chairman of Grande's label, Republic Records, said he was "blown away" by the singer from the moment he met her.
"When I first met Ariana, I was blown away by her extraordinary talent, passion for music, and burning competitive spirit," Lipman said. "It really comes as no surprise that she would be recognized as 'Best New Artist' for 2013. We are all so proud of her and this historic achievement."
Grande began her TV career in 2010 by playing Cat Valentine in Nickelodeon's hit sit-com Victorious. She put out first solo studio album Yours Truly in 2013 and currently stars in her former show's spinoff Sam & Cat.
