Powerball ticket goes unclaimed

A $16.66 million winning lottery ticket purchased in May was not claimed before the 180-day deadline.

Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Some lucky Floridian missed out on the opportunity to claim more than $16 million dollars as a midnight deadline expired overnight.

A Powerball ticket purchased on May 25 at a Carrollwood Market in in Tampa was one of three sold with that day's winning numbers of 2, 6, 19, 21, 27 and a Powerball of 25. The two other tickets were sold in Louisiana and Delaware.

Florida lottery officials said some of the money would go to fund education, and the market still received the $25,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
