Nov. 21 (UPI) -- A California woman returned home on Halloween after running some errands to find that burglars had made off with some items that she can’t replace very easily -- urns containing the ashes of her late husband and cats Pumpkin and Tiger.

In order to help track down the irreplaceable items, a $1,000 reward is being offered to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of the person or persons that burglarized Suella Martin’s Granite Bay home.

Martin thinks one of the burglars climbed in through the window and opened the door for a partner. “They had jimmied the window and crawled in,” Martin said.

Her husband died five years ago from cancer. “I looked down on the floor, I saw this box and I thought, ‘Oh no,’” Marin said. “It was 43 years of a wonderful marriage and someone stole ashes.”

Granite Bay has seen a rise in burglaries lately, a trend Martin has now experienced firsthand. “I know it’s happened to many other people, but when it happens to you, it really hits you hard,” Martin said.
