Kanye West puzzles critics with cheesy 'Bound 2' video starring topless Kim Kardashian

Kanye West gets hot and heavy with his topless fiancee in the bizarre new music video for his single "Bound 2."

Nov. 19 (UPI) -- However egomaniacal and over-the-top Kanye West's interview style might be, the 36-year-old rapper usually makes relatively tasteful music videos.

But critics were astonished on Tuesday when West stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to debut the video for "Bound 2," in which West rides down a highway on his motorcycle straddled by a topless Kim Kardashian. They're backed by a series of cheesy green-screen images of space, woods, mountains and running horses that you might see in a low-budget children's show.

"Ever the boundary-pusher, West may have pushed this one right past the precipice of self-parody, straight over the edge," said The Atlantic Wire's Eric Levenson.

"['Bound 2'] already sounds like it was crafted specifically for Kanye to force Kim to perform a listless private striptease to -- so why not add some sweet motorcycles and thundering stallions?" mused The A.V. Club's Sean O'Neal.

But The Week's Scott Meslow thought it was just Kanye being Kanye.

"Kanye West's "Bound 2" music video might be the most Kanye West thing Kanye West has ever recorded," he wrote.

West also spent his time with DeGeneres discussing his happy home life and his love for his baby mama.

"She's an important person; when I was at my lowest moments I could get on the phone with her and she would make me feel like, you know, I was here for a reason. And I had something to say and support me through that," he said of Kardashian.

"People make fun of me for how in love I actually am. And people are just so cool with their approach to things, and also I'm trying to avoid the jump-up-on-the-couch moment," he laughed, in reference to Tom Cruise's publicly disastrous show of love for Katie Holmes.
