Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Rabid Ryan Gosling fans (i.e. everyone) will be devastated to know that their beloved Canadian heartthrob has been passed up once again for People magazine's annual man-candy contest, the "Sexiest Man Alive" title.

Carson Daly made the controversial announcement during Tuesday night's episode of the The Voice.

"Carson, you just had that made. That's not real," Adam Levine said when Daly held up the magazine cover.

"I'm sorry, Blake. It just didn't work for you buddy," Daly told Levine's bromance parter and Voice mentor Blake Shelton.

"As a musician, you have fantasies that you want to win Grammys, but I didn't really think that this was on the table," the 34-year-old Maroon 5 frontman told People. "I was just amazed and stunned and it almost seemed like they were kidding, but they weren't, so that's cool."
