A single-engine Cirrus SR 22 left the international airport at Grand Bahama around 11 a.m. on an apparent sightseeing tour and then crashed about 4 miles off the coast.
Royal Bahamas Police Force superintendent Stephen Dean said the plane broke up into pieces upon hitting the water. An investigation is underway.
