(UPI) -- The St. Louis Cardinals were supposed to arrive in Boston for Game 6 of the World Series around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, but the team didn’t end up arriving in the Hub until about 10 p.m. after they were delayed because of mechanical problems with their plane.

The Cardinals stayed on their broken plane for about seven hours until a replacement charter flight could arrive. During the delay, the players did their best to occupy themselves.

“Fortunately, we have plenty of food, snacks for the kids, lots of entertainment with on-board movies, and everybody travels with all their high-tech stuff," manager Mike Matheny said. "Most of these kids are pretty happy that they're not in school right now, and it's a great way to spend a day."

Some of the Cardinals took to Twitter to share the experience.

At least one Cardinal wasn’t pleased with the food on the plane.

Even though he is scheduled to pitch Game 6 tonight, rookie Michael Wacha attempted to relax during the delay.

“Everyone is just watching movies,” Wacha said. “Everyone is just walking around. Nobody is in a bad mood or anything like that. The attitude is pretty good.”

The Red Sox beat the Cardinals in St. Louis on Monday night. If the Red Sox win tonight, they will clinch the World Series and secure their third championship since 2004.
