(UPI) -- If there's one thing modern-day workplaces need to boost morale, it's tiny kittens to cuddle.

That was the idea behind Uber's National Cat Day promotion, in which the national vehicle-hiring startup promised to deliver kittens to offices for a 15-minute snuggle session.

Uber teamed up with Internet cat specialists over at I Can Haz Cheezburger to bring kittens needing homes to cuddle-deprived participants in Seattle, New York and San Francisco for just $20. The adorable creatures came with cupcakes made by Ace of Cakes pastry chef Duff Goldman and all proceeds went to local animal shelters.

Demand for the service was so high, that Uber started to run out of kittens to deliver.

"Everyone loves kittens, so the response has been awesome," a rep told Mashable Tuesday. "It has been difficult for everyone to get a kitten SUV at their offices. And as we all know, kittens run on their own schedule, so we have to work around their cat naps and feedings."
