'Story of My Life': One Direction releases new single [LISTEN]

"Story of My Life," the first single from One Direction's upcoming third album was released, featuring more of a folk sounds than the band's normal pop beats.

The new track from "Midnight Memories" is perhaps influenced a bit by the likes of Mumford & Sons, Gavin Degraw and Phillip Phillips, featuring a slower tempo, an acoustic sound and raspy, angsty lyrics, Entertainment Weekly said.

It's a darker song compared to previous upbeat One Direction tunes, with lyrics speaking of romance and heartache.

"The story of my life: I give her hope," the lyrics say. "I spend her love until she's broken inside."
