The former Massachusetts governor and his wife Ann are building a three-bedroom, 7,900-square-foot mansion in Holladay, Utah. It will be Romney’s second Utah home as he also recently purchased a Deer Valley mansion that was on the market for $8.9 million.
"The interior ... invites both grand entertaining and cozy relaxation," reads a listing about the Deer Valley home. "The architectural design is centered on the two-story great room with massive stone fireplace and magnificent views to the Uinta Mountains and beyond."
The home was built out of whole logs and was featured in Architectural Digest as "Utah rustic."
"That’s a good-size house, but he has a lot of grandkids so he needs a place to host everybody," said Taylor Oldroyd, chief executive of the Utah County Association of Realtors. "Looks like to me that Mitt Romney realizes that Utah is the place to be and wants to be there."
According to reports, Mitt’s son Craig added a secret passageway through a closet in his San Diego home.
His other son, Josh Romney, is having his new home built next door on property that was bought at the same time that Mitt purchased his land.
